Antique Signet Rings

A beautiful classic in the antique jewelry world is the antique signet ring.  Antique signet rings were a sign that you had importance or status in past times.  They were often worn by officials who would use the ring as a seal set in wax on official documents.  This is why one finds initials or figures in reverse on seals and rings as once placed in wax, the negative design becomes the positive and then is the recognizable signature or image.  Signet rings carried on into Georgian and Victorian times and became ornately adorned in rich rose gold hues.  Unfortunately, not many of these original antique beauties remain today and are quite rare.  Many were melted down over the years as there is usually quite a bit of gold used in them.  To the left is a beautiful example that was recently acquired and added to the online catlog for purchase.  It is English, 9ct rose gold and dates to the Georgian to Victorian era.  Please have a look at the beautiful details of this piece at http://your-antique-jewelry.com/Antique%20Jewelry/Antique-Rings.html .  Currently available exclusively at http://www.your-antique-jewelry.com/ , U.S. $395.
